About SMS
Schott Manufacturing Solutions is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Denver-area machine shop in Longmont, Colorado. We take on difficult 5-axis work, prove it in prototype and run it in production for defense and aerospace customers.
Our story
SMS began with the vision of our founder, Mr. Aaron Schott, recognized as one of the finest machinists in the U.S.A. He built experience and a standard of precision into the foundation of the company, and that standard still sets the bar on our floor.
Today almost all of our work is for defense primes, and the Primes recognize us as a high-level shop, supporting missile systems, aviation components and space hardware. Program details stay confidential. The quality bar does not move.
Customer alignment
We pride ourselves on 100% alignment with our customers, start to finish: engineering, design, fixturing, manufacturing planning, machining and CMM inspection, with very strong communication throughout. It is proven and ongoing with prime customers across missile, aviation and space programs.
We work with your team on the print, the strategy and the details that make a hard part buildable.

What we are after
We want long-term production contracts. That is why we build tight, repeatable processes around the highest-quality parts, and why we keep investing.
We believe we have some of the best machining and quality talent in the region. The people on our floor and in our quality lab are the reason difficult parts come out right.
We are constantly investing: a new Matsuura machine, a new Zeiss CMM, a new compressor and all-new CMMC-level technology equipment for security and information protection. A second site and new machines are coming in the near future, for more capacity, larger work envelopes and higher-quality machine tools to support the tightest tolerances our aerospace and defense customers demand.
Prototype learning feeds production. We lock in the process, inspect to the print and hold it from the first part to the thousandth.
